Thirteen A Social Enterprise is an entrepreneurial program of the Parkdale Food Centre. 13:ASE engages youth seeking employment and skills development opportunities in the operation of a social enterprise. All our profits go back into funding entrepreneurial training and engagement with youth. Our spices reflect the diverse countries that many of the past participants have come from.

 

Berbere Spice "A versatile Ethiopian spice, perfect for fried or roasted chicken, stirred into a pot of lentil stew or mixed into a coconut milk curry."

Ingredients: Paprika, Chili Flakes, Chili Pepper, Ginger, Cardamom, Fenugreek, Black Pepper, Cumin, Coriander, Nutmeg, Allspice, Cinnamon, Cloves

 

Pilau Masala "Our Pilau Masala has a warm, sweet taste. Pilau Masala is mainly used on rice in the Kenyan culture. If you want to add a subtle, sweet flavour to your dish, try Pilau Masala. It can be used in fried rice, rice pudding, on roasted veggies."

Ingredients: Cumin, Paprika, Turmeric, Sumac, Cloves, Cinnamon, Bay Leaves, Black Pepper, Cardamom

 

Xawaash "Our Xawaash blend is a bright and zesty spice inspired by Somalia. One of our most flavourful and versatile spices, it is perfect for a rice spice, curries and roasted vegetables."

Ingredients: Coriander, Turmeric, Cumin, Ginger, Lemon Zest, Curry Leaves, Cardamom, Chili Powder

 

Pili Pili "Bring a little heat from the Congo into your kitchen with our Pili Pili. Try it in marinades, sauted veggies, spicy omelets, or even spice up your hot chocolate with a sprinkle of Pili Pili."
